La Union represents a special limited edition collaboration between My Father Cigars and Tatuaje Cigars, created to commemorate the twenty-year partnership between these two industry titans. The My Father blend for this collaboration features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, crafted in a single 7 1/4 x 50 Prominente Especial vitola. The cigar incorporates Pelo de Oro tobacco, a specialty leaf grown by the Garcia family in small quantities due to its susceptibility to mold, and commonly featured in My Father's limited edition releases.
This collaboration has deep roots, as the Garcia family has produced nearly every cigar sold by Tatuaje since 2003, with Pete Johnson of Tatuaje now married to Janny García of My Father Cigars. All cigars are produced at the prestigious My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, maintaining the brand's commitment to traditional Cuban-style craftsmanship combined with premium Nicaraguan tobaccos.
Each cigar carries a suggested retail price of $60, reflecting the premium nature of this limited release. Production is strictly limited to 1,500 boxes of the Black humidor version, with 1,200 allocated for the U.S. market and 300 for international markets. The cigars feature a distinctive 109-style belicoso cap, a traditional Cuban design that creates a tapered head hybrid between a belicoso's pointed cap and a parejo's round head.
