The Plasencia Alma del Fuego has earned a prestigious 92-point rating, noted for its box-pressed construction with 'gleaming oils' and featuring 'spicy, woody smoke that's accentuated by touches of coffee bean, dried fruit and cloves' with 'a nutty and sweet finish.' This cigar radiates passion and highlights the strong character of volcanic soil from Ometepe Island, offering 'a hint of spice, complemented by savory notes of tangerine, roasted cashews, and guava wood' while sun-grown wrappers from Jalapa Valley complement the cigar with a sweet character. To achieve the full potential of the volcanic soils, all Ometepe tobaccos used for the double binder and half the filler blend are aged for seven years, while the wrapper and remaining fillers are from Jalapa, with all tobacco grown on Plasencia's own farms operating for more than five generations. Created by cigarmaker and tobacco grower Nestor Andrés Plasencia as 'a love letter to Ometepe,' this represents the third installment in the five-part Alma series and his most profound expression of Ometepe tobacco to date. The Concepción size earned a 93 rating from Cigar Aficionado and a spot in the coveted Top 25 Cigars of the Year in 2019, with Plasencia noting that Ometepe tobacco must be aged well to reach its full potential.
