The Arturo Fuente Don Carlos is a medium to full-bodied masterpiece crafted by Carlos Fuente Jr. to honor his father, the patriarch of the Arturo Fuente brand, and handcrafted in the Dominican Republic from a select recipe of the finest aged tobaccos blended by Carlos Fuente Sr. The cigar features an African Cameroon wrapper that cloaks Dominican aged long fillers and binder, with the filler and binder leaves including some of the oldest tobaccos in Fuente's extensive inventory. To create this masterpiece, Carlos Fuente Sr. combined rare, Dominican vintage tobaccos that were hand-selected and aged as much as ten years.
Named after the legendary Fuente Patriarch Don Carlos Fuente Sr., the Don Carlos cigar has history dating back to 1976 when it was originally sold, eventually re-emerging in 1986 for the European market and until 1997 was only available in two vitolas: Robusto and No. 3, before expanding to include additional sizes like the Presidente, Double Robusto, No. 2, and No. 4 in 1998. Rolled in Grade-1 African Cameroon wrappers grown by the esteemed Meerapfel family, the Dominican binder and filler core comprise some of Fuente's oldest estate-grown tobaccos. The factory, Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia., is the largest family-owned cigar-making operation in the premium cigar business, and the Don Carlos is said to be blended to Carlos Fuente Sr.'s personal taste.
Cigar Aficionado awarded Arturo Fuente Don Carlos its highest rating ever - 97 points and ranked it #1 among the world's Top 25 of 2017, with the cigar receiving multiple 94-point ratings. The result is a velvety smoke with notes of leather, cedar, roasted nuts, cocoa, and sweet spices, while cocoa and nuts resonate as the most dominant flavors, complemented by sweet cedar and subtle spice, delivering a nuanced complexity that only grows in richness with each draw. Known as the "Pride of the Fuente Family," this medium body cigar is world renowned for its rich flavor and rare vintage tobaccos that have been hand selected.
