The Rocky Patel Vintage 2006 San Andreas represents a significant milestone in the brand's acclaimed Vintage Series, featuring an 11-year-aged Mexican San Andres wrapper, a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and Nicaraguan filler tobacco. This medium-bodied cigar delivers flavors of dark chocolate, creamy oak, leather, earth and hay, with spicy pepper notes that give way to pleasant earthiness and natural sweetness from the Broadleaf binder.
This blend marks the first Vintage creation produced at Rocky Patel's boutique Nicaraguan factory, Tabacalera Villa Cuba S.A. (TAVICUSA) in Estelí, departing from the traditional Honduran production of previous Vintage releases. Despite its modest size, the TAVICUSA factory produces approximately seven million cigars annually and has been instrumental in crafting some of Rocky Patel's most acclaimed cigars since its establishment in 2008.
The smoking experience progresses through distinct phases, with the first third greeting smokers with earthy and spicy notes, the second third revealing layers of cocoa, coffee, and subtle sweetness, and the final third bringing a satisfying crescendo of leather and pepper flavors. This cigar pairs excellently with hearty dinners like steak or barbecue, and complements whiskies such as bourbon, rye or Scotch, as well as dry, dark red wines.
