The Warped Isla del Cocodrilo is medium-full in strength with a unique dessert-like sweetness profile featuring butterscotch, cream, and caramel notes. The smoking experience begins with light cedar, hay, leather, and white pepper notes that quickly evolve into pronounced sweetness featuring butterscotch, cream, caramel, and nutty undertones with hints of cinnamon and baking spice on the retrohale. The cigar has a Dominican feel to it, but it is also very Cubanesque in terms of flavor profile and appearance.
This cigar represents Warped's commitment to traditional craftsmanship while honoring Cuban heritage, as the name "Isla del Cocodrilo" is a nickname for the island of Cuba, which some say is shaped like a crocodile. Kyle Gellis has created a three-country blend consisting of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, two binders (Ecuadorian Habano 2000 & Brazilian Arapiraca), and Nicaraguan fillers. The cigars are produced at the famed Tabacalera La Isla Factory located in the Dominican Republic, and the wrapper was culled in the desflorado method, meaning that the flower of the tobacco plant was removed in the field, resulting in stronger tobacco.
This cigar has earned exceptional praise for its unique dessert-like sweetness profile and outstanding construction quality, making it box-worthy for many enthusiasts. Many reviewers mention that despite not being traditional Warped fans, the Isla del Cocodrilo won them over with its exceptional flavor profile and quality, making it an excellent introduction to the brand. Released in July 2024, the Isla del Cocodrilo continues Warped's tradition of creating boutique cigars that honor traditional Cuban methods while delivering a contemporary smoking experience.
