Diamond Crown

Diamond Crown is a luxury cigar brand with over a century of heritage, originally created by J.C. Newman more than 100 years ago as a premium offering that commanded premium prices—selling for a nickel when most cigars cost 2 cents, and a dime when typical cigars were 5 cents. The modern Diamond Crown Classic was launched in 1995 by Stanford J. Newman and Carlos Fuente, Jr. to celebrate J.C. Newman's 100th anniversary, revolutionizing the cigar industry as the first cigar with a 54 ring gauge and launching the trend toward thicker cigars. Stanford dreamed of making the best cigar in the world with no regard for cost or time, creating a brand synonymous with superior quality, fine craftsmanship, and epicurean pleasures that continues as one of the best-selling super premium cigars on the market. Today, the Diamond Crown family includes Diamond Crown Classic, Diamond Crown MAXIMUS, Diamond Crown Julius Caeser, Diamond Crown Black Diamond, and a line of luxury cigar humidors and accessories.

Background

Diamond Crown was originally one of J.C. Newman's earliest cigar brands, created more than a century ago as a luxury offering before fading away shortly before World War II. The brand was revived in 1995 when Stanford J. Newman and Carlos Fuente, Jr. created Diamond Crown Classic to celebrate J.C. Newman's 100th anniversary—a momentous occasion that deserved only the most exquisite cigar, which was met with rave reviews and instantly became known as one of the finest cigars ever made. Handmade in the Dominican Republic by the world-renowned Tabacalera A. Fuente, Diamond Crown cigars are rolled by the very best Master Rollers who undergo rigid quality standards, with each cigar passing through three inspections and aging in lots of 50 in cedar curing rooms for a minimum of twelve months, with Carlos Fuente selecting only the most skilled cigar makers and paying them a fixed top rate so their incentive is to make the best, rather than the most cigars. Originally launched exclusively on the west coast, Diamond Crown cigars were oversold even before they were introduced and eventually released to fine tobacconists around the world for all cigar lovers to enjoy.

History

J.C. Newman first created Diamond Crown more than a century ago as a luxury cigar that commanded premium prices, but the brand faded away shortly before World War II. The brand was successfully relaunched in 1995 during J.C. Newman's Centennial anniversary year, with the Diamond Crown Classic becoming an instant national sensation for its quality and constituent tobaccos. The line expanded with Diamond Crown MAXIMUS in 2005 for the company's 110th anniversary, followed by Diamond Crown Julius Caeser in 2010 to celebrate J.C.'s 135th birthday and the company's 115th anniversary. The success of Diamond Crown after the Centennial anniversary paved the way for future growth, with the brand name extending into a complete line of cigar merchandise, accessories, and luxury Diamond Crown Cigar Lounges.
