The Judge is a full-bodied extension of the core My Father brand that features an Ecuadorian Sumatra seed wrapper over dual Nicaraguan binders of Corojo and Criollo, with filler tobaccos cultivated from three Garcia family farms in Nicaragua: La Bonita Two, El Pedrero, and San Rafael. This commanding smoke earned Cigar Aficionado's prestigious #1 Cigar of the Year award for 2024 with an impressive 98-point rating, marking the third 'Cigar of the Year' title for the renowned father-and-son cigarmakers Pepin and Jaime Garcia, who previously won in 2012 with Flor de las Antillas and 2015 with My Father Le Bijou 1922.
Released in 2016, The Judge is a bold, full-bodied cigar packaged in boxes with lithographic art resurrected from 1905, and the name was inspired by a friend of the Garcia family who is a judge. With the exception of the dark, Sumatra-seed Ecuadorian wrapper, all tobacco comes from farms across Nicaragua that the Garcias spent many years obtaining. As is typical of Cuban construction, the cigar is made with two binders, one Corojo and one Criollo.
The cigar shows an ample core of earth, toast and wood along with finer nutty details and sweet undercurrents, opening with rich notes of toast, wood, and earth, balanced by a creamy texture, showcasing Nicaragua's finest terroirs by combining spicy, sweet, and earthy notes in perfect harmony. Professional reviews describe a smooth, complex and well-balanced profile filled with sweet notes of cedar, leather, cocoa, caramel, nuts, citrus and a balanced spice finish.
