The Original Documents Corojo is a blend of Nicaraguan Criollo '98 and Corojo '99 tobaccos finished with a AAA grade Corojo wrapper, offering a medium to full bodied and very complex smoking experience with tasting notes of leather, black cherries, earthy spice and the signature Illusione olfactory sweetness. This cigar represents the first release from Illusione, debuting in 2006 as a humble house blend for company founder Dion Giolito's Fumare tobacconist location in Reno, Nevada, but this was no ordinary house blend, as Giolito had big plans for this cryptic project, which has now evolved into one of the most respected names in the realm of craft cigars. Playing into Giolito's obsession with conspiracy, the Original Documents cigars feature hidden messages throughout, with codes such as 88, f9, cg:4, mj12 replacing standard size names, often tying into illuminati conspiracies and the like.
Dion Giolito, the creator of Illusione cigars, wanted to re-create a specific taste profile from years past - before the Sandinistas took over Nicaragua in 1979, when Nicaragua was growing some of the best tobaccos in the world, with cigars made from these prized fields in the Jalapa Valley and Esteli region being strong, bold and clean. All tobaccos are personally selected, graded and blended by Dion Giolito. This exceptional blend from Illusione has garnered Top 25 Cigar of the Year honors not once but twice, delivering a long ride through flavor country with notes of oak, black pepper, leather, and cocoa.
