Crafted in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Le Mans, the CAO Flathead V23 delivers a powerhouse full-bodied blend inspired by Ford's iconic GT40 MK1 car, which won the race consecutively from 1966-1969. This high torque, full-bodied smoke features a well-balanced blend of select Nicaraguan and Honduran fillers, Nicaraguan binder, and a dark, leathery Honduran wrapper. The cigar has been rolled in a single 6 x 60 box-pressed gordo—a size that goes by the name MK1 660.
Like most CAO cigars, it is produced at STG Estelí in Nicaragua. The robust tobacco blend includes fillers of Brazilian Mata Fina, Honduras (viso from Jamastran), and Nicaragua (viso from Jalapa and ligero from Estelí), bound in a Nicaraguan Habano leaf and finalized with a plush wrapper from the Jamastran region of Honduras. Though fuller in body, the CAO Flathead V23 also touts its dexterity and finesse, accomplished through a wide range of tobaccos from three countries, emphasizing power combined with finesse similar to the legendary GT40 MK1 racecar.
The smoking experience delivers a medium-full to full-bodied profile with flavors of mineral-rich soil, rain-soaked hardwoods, roasted nuts, and dried raisin sweetness through the finish, offering a heady mix of earth, spice and toast with earthy, nutty, peppery, and raisin notes. The cigars come packaged in a GT-inspired, 20-count box lined with material made to resemble tufted leather seats, featuring classic Ford/Gulf colors.
