Rocky Patel The Edge Maduro is a medium-bodied blend with a luscious Maduro Costa Rican wrapper enveloping a Nicaraguan binder and filler tobacco. The Edge Maduro is no doubt one of the stronger cigars on the market. However, the power is controlled, the strength extraordinarily well-balanced, the flavor extremely smooth and super-rich. Cigar Aficionado awarded Rocky Patel Edge Maduro cigars a 92-point rating, with tasting notes describing "A mini torpedo with a strong earthy, salt-and-pepper smoke that also leaves notes of hickory and molasses on the palate."
These cigars are hand-rolled at the El Paraiso factory in Danli, Honduras. The factory opened in 2017 and is one of the most important places for the brand's cigar production. The Edge series is basically what put Rocky Patel on the map, combining quality with an affordable price point and offering no shortage in the flavor department. When Rocky Patel first released The Edge in 2004, the concept was simple: a roughly hewn wooden box that held 100 unbanded cigars. It was offered in Corojo or Maduro, came in only two sizes and retailers had to purchase them in 100-count chests.
It is appropriate for just about anyone that has at least some smoking experience. Intermediate smokers looking to get into fuller cigars will likely appreciate the extra oomph offered by the blend, while experienced connoisseurs will be happy to use it as a "go-to" cigar for just about any occasion. This blend pairs well with coffee or dark beer.
