Altar Q is produced in only one size, a 6×52 toro that uses an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, and binder and filler from Copán, Honduras. This medium-strength cigar offers warm notes of coffee, nuts, and spice, with cherry notes balanced out with notes of roasted nuts, grass, leather, vanilla, and black pepper. The smoking experience begins with overtly creamy and sweet flavors on the palate, with a combination of creamy cedar and sweet oranges dominant, followed by flavors of leather, mocha coffee, sourdough bread, earth and a touch of vegetal.
This monumental smoke takes its name from a stone altar carved in 776 A.D. and pays homage to the Mayan empire, discovered in the center of Copán, Honduras, in 1886. The box for the Altar Q cigar is a replica of this monument and each cigar represents one of those 16 rulers, each with their own name on the band. The filler and binder tobaccos in this release are from the Copán region of Honduras, with the Valladares factory being based in Danlí, maintaining Oscar Valladares's commitment to showcasing Honduran heritage and the region's exceptional tobacco-growing terroir.
The creamy profile and medium-bodied flavors of the Oscar Valladares Altar Q cigars are easy to enjoy, making them a fantastic morning smoke with a cup of coffee or a pleasant match-up with an ice-cold beer on a hot afternoon. The medium body and easy smoking feel to the flavor profile make it a great stick to enjoy at any time of the day, with truly seasoned connoisseurs appreciating the delicate complexities along the way as Altar Q tells its intricate story.
